Ok, today is the last post this week on software…I promise. I don’t know how many countless hours I’ve spent fixing computer and camera problems because I’ve failed to stay on top of updates. One time I forgot to update my camera’s firmware and sure enough one of the “bugs” reported caused me to have to ship my camera back to be serviced. Yes, this is extremely rare but it does happen. In today’s digital world it’s very important to stay on top of your camera’s firmware updates. I shoot with Canon so I typically just go to Canon’s support page and check to see if there are any new updates for my firmware. However, there are several sites that aggregate firmware updates. One such site, Cameratown, (if you can get past all the ads) is a good source of aggregate firmware updates. Cameratown’s links take you to the manufacturers site to download the latest firmware. Keep in mind, you always want to download directly from the manufacturer’s site.
In other update news, Lightroom has released version 2.4 and that update can be found HERE. Make sure to select either the Windows or Macintosh version!
In other fun news, I’m heading to New Orleans next week for a few days. If it’s hot here in Chicago then I’m sure it will be miserable there, but I hope to get a few days of good shooting in! If anyone has a few suggestions on places that I shouldn’t miss, then drop me a comment.
Tomorrow I plan on writing about a few of the photographers I follow. Consider yourself up-to-date…;)
