Bob Krist’s Stuff Rocks

Rainbow on the Missouri Flats

Missouri Flats Rainbow

Today’s blog is going to be on the short side,  but I want to point you in the direction of one of my favorite freelance photographers.  Bob Krist has taken photos for National Geographic Traveler, Smithsonian, and Islands magazine.  His work is amazing, and if you follow his blog lately, he’s been traveling West and posting photos from iconic locations along the way.  As a reminder, I have one spot left for this September’s workshop.  If you’re interested drop me a note at john@batdorffphotography.com, or visit my Online Workshop tab and reserve your space with the Buy It Now button.

Bob Krist does have a lot of great knowledge. I took a one day seminar at Northwestern Univ last year where Bob and one of his colleagues presented. I got a lot of good information.

This is a beautiful shot! My heart would’ve been pounding trying to capture it before it faded and praying I had my camera settings right! :-)

I really enjoyed looking at Bob Krist’s photos. Very inspiring!

    Hi John,

I have an unrelated question about shooting under night club conditions – low light, logistics – what is the best lens to use? I usually have to set the ISO to 1600, though I would like to shoot slower. In general, do you have any tips about shooting under those conditions?

    Thanks so much.

    Lori

      Lori,

It really depends on the setting/situation but my biggest piece of advice is make sure you lens has fairly large aperture. What lens have you been using. John
