Low Light Winners ARE…

Picking the winners of the “Low Light In The Spotlight” contest turned out to be a much harder task than originally planned.  We had some amazing photographers submit some incredible images.  I knew everyone would have a nice sunset or sunrise shot in their arsenal of images, but I never expected to receive nearly 500 photos.  It was a great turn out and I really appreciate everyone who participated in the contest.   Ok…enough blabbering.  After hours and hours of looking at images and comparing them side by side in Lightroom, I’m finally prepared.  So, the Winners Are:

Lori Rosenfelder Nicoli Sunrise

Lori Rosenfelder Nicoli Sunrise Winner

Sunrise Winner is Lori Rosenfelder Nicoli. Lori captured a beautiful image of a timeless nature. This photo has great texture and beautiful light, not to mention a wonderful composition that makes it a real winner.

Victoria Fatum: Bass Harbor Light, Sunset Winner

Victoria Fatum: Bass Harbor Light, Sunset Winner

Sunset Winner is Victoria Fatum with her Bass Harbor Light photograph. Victoria has captured a classic sunset image that simply screams, “Travel Magazine Cover”

Jennifer E. Carr: Night Winner

Jennifer E. Carr: Night Winner

Night shot winner is Jennifer E. Carr with her incredible urban street image. The strength of this photo is it’s raw ability to pull you in.  The black and white treatment is simply wonderful.

Honorable mentions: Cedric Sims, Cindy Hickman and Aaron Graham

I hope everyone enjoyed this month’s contest as much as I did.  Winners, please contact me so I can make arrangements to send you your prizes!  Remember, you can choose a gift certificate to either B&H Photo, or Calumet Photo, so give me your address where I should send it and your choice of prize.  It was a ton of fun and I look forward to our next contest. If there’s a contest you would like to see in the future please make sure to leave me a note on this post. Congrats again to all the winners and thanks to everyone for entering! John

Hey John, how about a contest for us foodies? Anyway, thanks for the great website and a chance for us amateurs to show our work.

      Gayle,

A food contest sounds great…but I’m still trying to recoup from all the pie baking contest we had in Montana this year. I was the judge..;)

I just found this site about a month ago, it was nice to see so many great photographs in the “Low Light” contest. It served as a little humbling reminder how far I have to go, how much I still have to learn if I ever want to make my living in this artistic endeavour. As my drawing capability relies more on the eraser than the lead point. Great job everyone…

PS: I was thinking a B&W nature contest
