With Spring here and the changing weather, the world is coming out from hibernation and finding reasons to celebrate. In the few places that I’ve traveled to, festivals always have highlighted my experience and really give a feel for the country and local community. What I’m just now realizing is that my own country and local community have some pretty great festivals too! So to get into festival mood I went up north last week to join some friends for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Traverse City and brought the camera along. Imagine a sea of green crawling between ten bars in ten hours, led by a bagpipe-centered band. Give people a reason to celebrate and they will and that’s why there are festivals in every season, whether it’s a Polar Plunge or a County Fair or an extremely organized Pub Crawl you can always find something! So find a local festival and bring your camera along. Check out Facebook Events, your local Chamber of Commerce homepage, or your local newspaper. Most festivals gain hype by word-of-mouth, but sometimes those that are less know are gems too. What are your favorite festivals to photograph?

I’m just picturing the whole pub crawl image and wondering how the pipes sounded at the end of the crawl! Of course, I’m thinking the crowd wouldn’t care much about the sound in the end ~ ha. (I love bagpipes, btw.) Nice post and I love the photo. Looks like a good time!
