Varanasi

Working by candlelight

A quick post from Varanasi. There is something very magical about Varanasi, and of all the cities I’ve visited on this trip, as of now this is my favorite. The character and rustic charm truly takes me back to my days of watching Indiana Jones as a kid and thinking, “I want to go to India some day.” This is truly how I pictured India would be…

Power outages are very common in Varanasi throughout the day, and especially during the summer. One such blackout took place this evening while we were walking through the narrow maze of corridors in the city. But, as quickly as the lights had gone out, the city began to glow again as merchants lit candles and lamps—it made for some amazing memories and few good photos too. ;)
