Saying goodbye…..

Tess Chilling on the couch

We said goodbye yesterday to one of our  best buds, our twelve year old newfie—Tess. Tess has been a member of our family for nearly twelve years and was probably one of the sweetest dogs you would have ever met. I don’t know about all of you but my hard drive is littered with photos of my pets and Tess was always a willing subject…I don’t know how many times I said, “Tess, look at the camera.”   She was a big part of our family, from the birth of my daughter to eventual additions of three other dogs.  She’s been the constant matriarch.   She’s been my travel partner on nearly ever road trip for over a decade, and on countless photo excursions. She’s been there for us at times of great loss and amazing joy. She was my muse, my best bud, and our families number one girl.  Thanks for being a part of our life…love, John, Staci and Anna.

our dearest canine souls are singular losses… the space around is missing their ever presence… and only incrementally can we adjust to the unique absence… but time does heal… best to you and yours in the coming days, t

Sorry for your loss, John. My wife, Staci, and I had a cat that lived until just short of 20 years. We now have a dog — a Puggle named Petie — that has completely taken control of my heart strings. I hate to think of the day he leaves us…

I am so sorry for your loss, however a million sorry’s cannot lighten the pain in your hearts. Hold fast to the delight, laughter and wonderful memories Tess brought into your lives. I’m sure she will be sorely missed. Blessings to you all. I will hold you in my heart and keep you in my prayers.

Heartbreaking… I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Pets become members of the family and it is never easy to see them go. You have to rest assured in the fact that you gave them a wonderful life and as much love as you could.

    John,

We lost our best buddy Wednesday last week, so I know how you feel. Our story is almost the same. Buster was our kid before we had kids, and was the willing subject of many of my best shots. Even when he had a bad hair day (or as often was the case, a bad tongue day), he was happy to have his picture taken with a “what are you looking at?” grin on his face. I hope your grief is short and the memories long. Dust off the corners of that hard drive and celebrate the good times.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Pets truly become members of the family and losing one leaves a big hole in everyone’s hearts. Our loyal family dog died not too long ago, so I know what you’re going through. It’s still difficult to look through all my photos of her without tearing up… but having them is a blessing.

  19. Jana says:

Losing a pet, especially one that has been with us for so long is very hard. I am sorry for your families loss :( She was a beauty!

  20. Terri says:

Until you have lost a pet it is hard to understand the feeling of loss. I still miss my best dog over 12 years ago and even though I have others and love them none have been able to take her place.

I am truely sorry for you loss of Tess.

  21. Tim Humble says:

    Hey John,

Really feeling for you and the family in this difficult circumstance. I’ve had to leave loved family pets behind in other countries a few times and that was tough enough… Wishing you much comfort mate.

  22. Sheila Rose says:

    John,

I am so sorry for your loss. Tess was a beautiful dog, I can see her sweet, loving, happy soul through her eyes. The photo with Anna is so precious.. sisters. ;)

Losing a pet/furbaby is so difficult, especially after so many years. Sometimes we forget they aren’t there… we realize they are gone… their love lives on in our hearts.

I lost Shaiti/13 in Oct., Shashi/14 in June. I told them to find Tess, welcome her to the Rainbow Bridge wild bunch.
