There are a few things I could never live without—my family, my dogs, my photography and of course my Drobo. I’ve been a huge fan of Drobo since day one, and like all GREAT technology, the Drobo just keeps getting better and better with each model. Today I use my Drobo S as my main back-up device. Here’s a short video to tell you more…(try to ignore the bald spot and the fact that I’m talking 100 miles a minute.

Awesome item! Drobo seems to be the perfect thing for me! I already lost all my original photography files when my tiny hard drive dropped the needle and I lost over 10k images, which included lots of “fun” shots from various places across the US that while weren’t site worthy to sell, they were an awesome memory.
This is the first time I have ever heard of Drobo. Sounds like a pretty good solution for photos! I dont’ know how many times we have lost our photos. Photography is my hobby,I would love to have one! Thanks for chance at one!

With all the pictures I take for school and pleasure, I am always worried that I might lose them. This system seems to make it easy to back them up and not have to worry.

I would really like a Drobo. I would like to make my comment more original, so I’m going to lay out a story as to why I would like one. Sidenote: The following story is completely untrue. When I was little, I had a pet dog named Drobo. He was my favorite dog in the world. One day, as my mother was backing out of the driveway, she backed up over him. Get it, backed up? I was heartbroken. For years and years I’ve tried to find a way to repair this hole in my heart caused by poor Drobo’s death. I believe that honoring my late dog with a Drobo would both repair the hole in my heart and put my poor dog’s soul at rest.
I would *LOVE* to win a Drobo, so here’s my comment.. The facebook bit, however, isn’t possible.. No facebook account.. *sigh* So I guess I’m out of the running. I’ll happily RT your twitter post tho…

I need a Drobo S, as I have an older model and it has worked prefectly for years, but now I desire the new speed offered by Drobo S. The speed of Drobo S would allow me to use it as primary storage for HD video work, more than just a backup, but protected online storage.
What a fantastic contest. I have at least 5 different X-HDs that I have for my photography. And since my laptop is so small I have to empty my photos on them at least twice a week. This would be so useful and amazing! Good luck to every one!
My external drive just failed and have been researching possibilities. I have 8 years of my family’s digital photos and videos to restore… A Drobo would be terrific! I promise, I’ll feed it every day.
The Drobo is an awesome product. My data at home previously lived on a home-built NAS with RAID-5, but dealing with the pain of growing the array and not being able to mix and match drive sizes kept me from keeping it up. My data currently lives on a single 2TB drive, with back-ups on external drives, and a Drobo would greatly simplify my set-up.
Nothing like a contest to get the responses flowing. Data Robotics have been excellent at marketing the Drobo in all areas of my interests from data management in science through to image management in photography. I use one at work, and now have late night cravings for one at home. Especially those late nights when I hear one of my drives re-initialize while I am working on family photos and videos! I. Need. A. Drobo. I just learned about them in my Digital Workflow class at the Washington School of Photography. Right now, my (infrequent) backups are DVDs.

I need a drobo to support my photographic interests. Even with 1.5 TB of space currently I’m finding I’m shooting less and less often due to a need to conserve and save storage space, so my computer has enough overhead to continue running. An expandable solution such as a drobo would be perfect, just currently out of my budget.

I have always had such a passion for photography, but I guess I didn’t realize how much until I took a career assessment test. Number one came back as “photographer”. My grandmother was a travel photographer and I have such fond memories of watching her slide shows. I still have her camera (but will never use it, because it’s not digital! haha). I more than need a Drobo, I have to have one. I have actually had to limit my picture taking the past month or two to keep space available on my HD and backup to allow for an upcoming weeding I am shooting and the fall season here in western New York. I need a Drobo because I have over 100,000 photos on my computer and on external hards drives ( notice I said “Drives” Like you I am very paranoid about losing my work/photos) and I think they are about to BLOWWWWWWWWW!!!! I would love to win a Drobo. I’m just getting back into photography after getting my 1T external. Probably the reason WHY I stopped taking pictures – too much HD space eaten up with storage. The Drobo looks like a cool, compact & coordinated unit. AND…I see you’re from Chicago. Are you related to Sharon & Donna Batdorf, originally from HH? Just wondering. I life in Sedona now and shortly bound for San Francisco, CA but, occasionally think about my childhood & fond memories of them.

As my wedding photography starts to get rolling, asset management is one of the critical areas. I have been debating how to handle this aspect of my business and I really need a drobo.

I could really use a Drobo. Whenever I start doing a big video project, I’m ever lamenting the lack of storage, and petrified I’m going to lose it all when the disk failed. I actually had my internal disk, Time Machine disk, and two of my three hard disks all fail at about the same time (give or take a week or two between them). I feel quite lucky that I was able to recover anything from any of them. I’m still holding out on replacing a couple of them so I can buy bigger disks and establish a software RAID this time, but a Drobo would make my life so much easier.
Really need some drobo lovin! And this one has 5 bays of pure AWESOME managed storage for things like… all those plans for taking over the world. A good villan needs reliable robot storage henchmen you know!

I need a Drobo! Recently, my external harddrive crashed and it took me a full day to recover all my home videos and pictures! I would REALLY LOVE to win a Drobo!
Even though I’m just a rank amateur photographer, I feel my pictures are worth saving… right now, they’re sitting on a single 1.5TB drive… every day I get more and more anxious about them being just on that one drive!

Drobo is a wonderful backup solution. It takes the guesswork out of RAID. If I had a Drobo I’d use it along w/ Carbonite to backup files. If and when Carbonite allows for external storage. My network sure could use a Drobo. Almost everyone here in my household attends college it would be nice to have home directories with everyones documents on the network for quick access and backup capabilities.
I really need a Drobo! I have tens of thousands of images, and am running out of space on my main hard drive. I don’t trust normal external drives to hold the main copy of my libraries, but I do use them for backups. A Drobo would give me enough peace of mind to put my main copy of my photo library off my computer’s main hard drive and allow me to share it among multiple computers.
I neeeeeeeeed a drobo. I want to slice part of it off for time machine backups. Another part for holding my music and photos and movies. And maybe another part to backup my PC to, but I almost never use my PC. So yeah… NEEED!

Drobo – what a device! The closet full of Buster Brown shoe boxes filled with old photos and negatives (not without some charm I admit has met its’ 21st century counterpart. But seriously, it is time for everyone to protect their digital photos – for themselves and their grandchildren. Well, right now I’m copying my photos between 2 internal hard drives. Because I have only one external case (the other one broke). I have to unscrew the first drive to put the second one and copy again the photos on it… Really a pain in the a**. A drobo would be the solution!!!

My main reasoning for needing a Drobo is the fact that I do a lot of video game captures.. and the average filesize tends to be around 20-80GB for a capture. Being able to toss HDs in/out of the Drobo as necessary = perfect.
That being said: If I win a Drobo, it gives me an excuse to buy a few more HDs that I’ve been putting off .
Do I need a Drobo? Uh…yeah! I currently have 6 seperate external drives daisy chained via USB hubs in my set up. It’s very “tech-ghetto”. My work area looks like Fred Sanford’s hard drive junkyard.

Ahh, the Drobo would be perfect for archiving the hundreds upon hundreds of gigs of family pictures and videos that I have. Burning them to DVD is pretty cumbersome, and I doubt the shelf life is all that great :-/

I’m an animator with the un-timely luxury of having several old hard drives of various sizes, with different power adapters, and it’s such a pain. The Drobo seems like perfect solution. I’ve read nothing but good reviews and would be nothing short but grateful if I won this.
I love Drobo, possibly more than my own husband. I would gladly trade! My husband cleans, but unfortunately cannot backup my important photos and such!

As I said on Drobo’s facebook, I wish I had one of these. I was downloading my stuff to a Seagate external hard drive and it crashed. Really lost a lot of nice pictures of my son-in-law who just passed away at 28. Seagate wants 700.00.

My world would be SO much easier if I had a Drobo. I’ve just begun to design and I didn’t realize just how big files can get and how quickly they pile up. This would be an invaluable asset to me and my work. I can’t tell you how much I want this!

I have wanted a drobo for years, but have not been able to cover the cost. Chicken and egg really. After being laid off, picked up the camera and started shooting again. As the shots and projects piled up I had to get key working images off of the HD because I was worried about losing them from a HD failure.
Not as worried, I have now moved up to external HDs, but still single, no redundancy and running in the yellow on the Risk front. I will have a Drobo one day….
So to that, I throw my hat into the ring of this contest in hopes of getting my grubby little hands on one of these sweet pieces of hardware!

In my last job with a mid-size school department, I was using Drobo units in multiple locations and I never worried about them because I knew they worked great.
Now I’m employed with in a state position and due to limited budget, I’m having to use a single old Firewire drive for backups. I so hope I win a Drobo because then my stuff (I work in IT and do quite a bit of scripting, package-making and image development) will truly be secure.

I need a Drobo & Drobo rocks, ok that was totally unoriginal!
With all the pictures I take for school and pleasure, I am always worried that I might lose them. This system seems to make it easy to back them up and not have to worry.

I would really like a Drobo. I would like to make my comment more original, so I’m going to lay out a story as to why I would like one. Sidenote: The following story is completely untrue. When I was little, I had a pet dog named Drobo. He was my favorite dog in the world. One day, as my mother was backing out of the driveway, she backed up over him. Get it, backed up? I was heartbroken. For years and years I’ve tried to find a way to repair this hole in my heart caused by poor Drobo’s death. I believe that honoring my late dog with a Drobo would both repair the hole in my heart and put my poor dog’s soul at rest.

The Drobo is an awesome product. My data at home previously lived on a home-built NAS with RAID-5, but dealing with the pain of growing the array and not being able to mix and match drive sizes kept me from keeping it up. My data currently lives on a single 2TB drive, with back-ups on external drives, and a Drobo would greatly simplify my set-up.

I need a drobo to support my photographic interests. Even with 1.5 TB of space currently I’m finding I’m shooting less and less often due to a need to conserve and save storage space, so my computer has enough overhead to continue running. An expandable solution such as a drobo would be perfect, just currently out of my budget.

I have always had such a passion for photography, but I guess I didn’t realize how much until I took a career assessment test. Number one came back as “photographer”. My grandmother was a travel photographer and I have such fond memories of watching her slide shows. I still have her camera (but will never use it, because it’s not digital! haha). I need a DROBO – I do video production for TubeClockDB.com and each review takes up nearly 50GB of source files.
I could really use a Drobo. Whenever I start doing a big video project, I’m ever lamenting the lack of storage, and petrified I’m going to lose it all when the disk failed. I actually had my internal disk, Time Machine disk, and two of my three hard disks all fail at about the same time (give or take a week or two between them). I feel quite lucky that I was able to recover anything from any of them. I’m still holding out on replacing a couple of them so I can buy bigger disks and establish a software RAID this time, but a Drobo would make my life so much easier.

The Drobo – Rock Solid Storage
Drobo is a wonderful backup solution. It takes the guesswork out of RAID. If I had a Drobo I’d use it along w/ Carbonite to backup files. If and when Carbonite allows for external storage. My network sure could use a Drobo. Almost everyone here in my household attends college it would be nice to have home directories with everyones documents on the network for quick access and backup capabilities.

I really need a Drobo! I have tens of thousands of images, and am running out of space on my main hard drive. I don’t trust normal external drives to hold the main copy of my libraries, but I do use them for backups. A Drobo would give me enough peace of mind to put my main copy of my photo library off my computer’s main hard drive and allow me to share it among multiple computers.

Well, right now I’m copying my photos between 2 internal hard drives. Because I have only one external case (the other one broke). I have to unscrew the first drive to put the second one and copy again the photos on it… Really a pain in the a**. A drobo would be the solution!!!

Drobo is by far the best drive system I’ve ever used.
My main reasoning for needing a Drobo is the fact that I do a lot of video game captures.. and the average filesize tends to be around 20-80GB for a capture. Being able to toss HDs in/out of the Drobo as necessary = perfect.
That being said: If I win a Drobo, it gives me an excuse to buy a few more HDs that I’ve been putting off

Ahh, the Drobo would be perfect for archiving the hundreds upon hundreds of gigs of family pictures and videos that I have. Burning them to DVD is pretty cumbersome, and I doubt the shelf life is all that great :-/

This is definitely my motivation to get a back-up system. I’ve been computer dependent for too long and gambling on my system to always be there for me. Even if I don’t win, I’m getting a Drobo. Thanks!

As I said on Drobo’s facebook, I wish I had one of these. I was downloading my stuff to a Seagate external hard drive and it crashed. Really lost a lot of nice pictures of my son-in-law who just passed away at 28.

My world would be SO much easier if I had a Drobo. I’ve just begun to design and I didn’t realize just how big files can get and how quickly they pile up. This would be an invaluable asset to me and my work. I can’t tell you how much I want this!

I have wanted a drobo for years, but have not been able to cover the cost. Chicken and egg really. After being laid off, picked up the camera and started shooting again. As the shots and projects piled up I had to get key working images off of the HD because I was worried about losing them from a HD failure.
Not as worried, I have now moved up to external HDs, but still single, no redundancy and running in the yellow on the Risk front. I will have a Drobo one day….
So to that, I throw my hat into the ring of this contest in hopes of getting my grubby little hands on one of these sweet pieces of hardware!

In my last job with a mid-size school department, I was using Drobo units in multiple locations and I never worried about them because I knew they worked great.
Now I’m employed with in a state position and due to limited budget, I’m having to use a single old Firewire drive for backups. I so hope I win a Drobo because then my stuff (I work in IT and do quite a bit of scripting, package-making and image development) will truly be secure.
