Casting Call: Chicago Portrait Project

Wanted: Ordinary people with with great stories and unforgettable faces.

I’m working on a new personal project this coming year and I need your help. I’m seeking out individuals, male and female, that are interested in having their portraits taken for an upcoming project.  Now, you might be asking why not just post this “model calling” on Model Mayhem or a similar service?

Well, here’s the deal: I’m looking for ordinary people with great stories and unforgettable faces.

Here’s what you can expect:

1. The project will take place over the course of the next year at a studio located in Chicago.
2. The entire session will not last for more than an hour or two.
3. Compensation? A very small fee will be paid, but the true reward will come in the form of donuts, tea, coffee and a good time.  :)  In addition, I promise to make good use of your time and provide you with a photographer’s choice print from the session to be mailed to you at a later date.
4. A release will be required to allow for the use in my portfolio, publication, etc. I have a pretty standard contract that you can review prior to scheduling the shoot session.

*NOTE: This is not a glamour or boudoir shoot. There’s nothing wrong with those type of shoots, but it’s not what I do.  So rest assured the only thing required to come off during the shoot is my lens cap…

So what am I looking for?

Truth is, I’ll know it when I see it!  That’s why I’m reaching out to all my readers.  I figured with over 7,500 Facebook followers and thousands of readers we should be able to get a few good leads.

Here are a few things to consider:

1. You must be at least 18 years or older.  I’m not concerned with sex or race. I’m more interested in your story.
2. How do you occupy your time?  Are you a school teacher,  city worker, dancer, musician, stay at home parent? Like I said before, I’m not looking for professional models, but rather real people with real stories and unforgettable faces.
3. You’ll need to be somewhat comfortable being in front of the lens, but rest assured we will do everything within our means to set you at ease.
4. Lastly, what makes your mug unforgettable?  Do you have interesting eyes, freckles, scars, smile, wrinkles, tattoos, etc?  You get the idea.

How will I know if I’ve been selected?

I plan on photographing between 20-30 individuals and will notify everyone that’s been selected within 60 days.

Obviously, if you live in the Chicagoland area, that would be convenient, but remember, there’s nothing like a quick visit to the Windy City. There’s so much to see and do while you’re here.

So there you have it.  If you have a friend or family member that you think is “unforgettable” then send them my way.  I’m hoping this pans out as a great way to find some new faces… if not, well then lesson learned and I’m on to Model Mayhem…
