UPDATE: The contest is now open internationally (except to countries with trade embargoes) and participants are now allowed to enter a maximum of three (3) images.
In celebration of my new book, Plug In With Nik, I’ve decided to kick off a photo contest for all Nik Software enthusiasts. This is a great opportunity to have your work seen by other people, and the best part is the photo contest is absolutely FREE to enter. I wish everyone the best of luck and remember it’s good karma to tell your friends about the contest.
Oh, one last thing, it’s a selfish plug, but I’ll be hosting a live webinar with Nik Software this Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM PDT so feel free to sign up by clicking this link HERE
Thanks again, have fun and good luck! Very best, John
Contest Details:
Please feel free to leave a comment on the blog if you have any questions.
The rules are simple:
1. Submit up to 3 of your favorite images that was processed using a Nik Software plug-in —Dfine, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, or Sharpener Pro*
(Photos may be edited in Lightroom, Aperture, or Photoshop. However, no third party plugins except those from Nik Software may be used in editing.)
2. Tell us which plugin you used for the processing.
3. Invite your friends to vote.
If you don’t have a Nik Software plugin then don’t worry because you can download a free trial version of any of the software HERE and still enter the contest.
Technical notes: The contest software only plays well with .jpg files, and I recommend that the longest edge of your image doesn’t exceed 1500px.

Can we submit more than one John?
I know it said “our favorite” not, “favorites”.
Also, what format and max size?
Just checking
Kimberly, it’s just one image and should be a JPEG. I recommend limiting the long edge to 1500 pixels. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!
Kimberly, update. We’ve now opened the contest to three entries.
How fun!! I’ll be in!!
This should be fun!!! I will submit images this weekend ;o) Just received your book btw “Plug In With Nik”
I didn’t know you had to submit all three of your images at once ;o/ When I went to go submit the other two there is no option for me to do so, Is there anyway to submit my other two images?
Shanya,
I had to delete your original submission so that you could resubmit all three images. Please let me know if you have any problems. Good luck, John
Thanks John ;o)
Thanks for this cool Nik contest. I have my 3 images resized and ready to upload, but the Phase 1 screen says to “Login with Facebook above to participate in this campaign”. The problem is that there seems to be no way to login to Facebook on that page! Any suggestions?
http://promoshq.wildfireapp.com/website/6/contests/315380/entries/new – This is the page I reference
John,
Logging into Facebook is optional. You can simply skip that field and continue down to entering your personal information then accept the terms and click continue. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck…John
Thanks, but it turns out it is a Safari issue. None of that information (Personal or FB Login) shows when I open in Safari, but in Firefox it’s a completely different window with all the information. Mac users should try logging in with an alternate browser!
hi,
so, the contest is open for nik plugin users only? what about the users of nik’s snapseed? i use it as a stand alone application on my mac and my ipad. but in both cases it’s not a plugin.
kind regards,
jan
Jan,
Thanks for your email. The contest is just for plugin users because I wanted to keep it to the products that I wrote about in my book. I hope you understand. I know some Snapseed users have download trial versions of their favorite Nik Software and submitted images. I hope this helps. Very best, John
