Taking a break from shooting

Online Digital Photography Critiques

This ongoing online workshop is available at anytime. Each student must have a digital camera with a basic understanding of how to use it. What I mean by basic is simply the ability to turn the camera on, point and shoot it. If you can manage those three things then you’ve met all the prerequisites for this program. The basic idea is to take beginning photographers to the next level.

What’s included:

  • Two homework assignments — for instance, take a portrait — submitted by email
  • My thoughts, impressions and suggestion returned via email for each assignment
  • My availablity via email to each student throughout the duration of the program (no worries about emailing too much)

Price: $150

“John is a Mentor “Extraordinaire”! I learned so much, on so many levels and it was all tailored to me, my goals and my needs. Best money spent on photography in all of 2009!”

Sarah Conglio:
“Thank you again for a fantastic workshop! I truly love your small group approach and feel so much more knowledgeable about how to capture the best photos and how to process them afterward. I appreciate the time and look forward to the next adventure (wherever that may be).”

Sheldon Gottlieb:
“I HIGHLY recommend John Batdorff to photographers at all levels. I consider myself a serious amateur and signed up for John’s individual one-on-one mentoring program. John far exceeded my expectations and I am going to sign up for another mentoring program with him. Because of John, I am much happier with my images, both with the subject matter and how they ultimately turn out.

John helped me significantly improve every aspect of my photography: what to shoot, how to shoot, where to shoot, post processing in Lightroom (color and black and white) and how to make the best use of my equipment. He also showed me how to create powerful images using Nik’s Silver Efex Pro and Viveza.

What was extremely helpful was John’s review and comments on my photographs. He has given me invaluable advice on things such as different ways to shoot the subject, what equipment to use and how to use it, and how to process the image.

John is extremely talented, both in the field and in the digital darkroom. He is also a very nice person and very encouraging. He is a pleasure to work with.”
