The Signature Series: Rome, Florence, & Venice
Build your travel and street photography portfolio with our Signature Series Photography Workshop in Italy. We’ll visit Rome, Florence, and Venice — three amazing Italian cities — while enjoying the culture, food, and history of this beautiful country. While we handle all the details, you’ll focus on travel and street photography with John’s expert guidance along the way. You’ll walk away with improved photography techniques as well as many of the quintessential Italy photos for your portfolio.
John Batdorff is a professional photographer, author, and authority on Travel and Street Photography. Staci has been a photographer for years and has been along with John on all of his photographic adventures. She is also the studio manager, logistics queen, and macro specialist. The two of us love nothing more than exploring a country together. We’d love to show you all the best spots and photography techniques to really capture the essence of Italy.
Italy Photography Workshop Itinerary:
May 4-7: Rome. First we’ll start in the morning on May 4th in the ancient capital of Rome. We’ll photograph the Vatican, Colosseum at night, and Forum. Over several days we’ll walk the city, including the parks, many famous Piazzas, Campos, Markets, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and all the old cobblestone streets. We’ll even be there on Sunday so you can hear the church bells ringing at the Vatican. Dinner and wine are included each night, and we’ll take you to the best gelato spot in the city. Rome’s pizza game is strong, so come hungry!
May 7-9: Florence. We’ll take a high-speed train in the morning to Florence. Here we’ll photograph the famous Il Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno River, the gorgeous piazzas, and a beautiful fresh food market. We’ll climb the hillside for a once-in-a-lifetime view of the city from the Piazzale Michelangelo. We’ll also get up early one morning and get some photos of the Arno River at dawn.
May 9-13: Venice. Late in the afternoon we’ll hop back on the high-speed train to our final destination, Venice, one of the best locations for street photography (or should we say, canal photography?) in the world. We’ll meander our way through the city, seeing Piazza San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, and the unforgettable Rialto Bridge. One day we will hop the water taxi to visit the smaller, very colorful island of Murano, world-famous for Murano Glass. If time allows, we may take a visit to Burano, a small island known for it’s colorful buildings. We’ll depart from Venice on the 13th after an amazing Italian photographic journey.
This is a full-service workshop where you will learn a ton about photography. You’ll have plenty of one-on-one time with John in the field to get all of your photography questions answered and to make sure that you get the shot when you’re in these gorgeous locations. But we understand that a trip like this should also be a blast! We’ll have plenty of time to immerse ourselves in the culture, to get to know one another, and truly enjoy this experience. Let’s see…coffee, wine, gelato, tiramisu, pizza, pasta… are you convinced yet? If you would like any references from our previous workshop attendees, please just ask!
