Join John and Staci for a wonderful, 4-day, New Orleans Photography Workshop. If you love colorful characters, street-performers, Creole-style architecture, delicious food, and want to further your photography skills, then then this is the trip for you. This photo workshop includes a full day at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, which celebrates the unique indigenous culture and music of New Orleans and Louisiana, which means photography opportunities galore!
We’ll stay out in the evening to get night photographs, and be up the next day to enjoy the famous Mother’s for an authentic creole breakfast. Then we’ll head out into the French Quarter to photograph the city, cemetery, and the markets. This trip will include all of the fabulous things “The Big Easy” has to offer, as well as individual photography instruction from John to make sure you are learning while you’re having fun. You will also spend one-on-one time with John processing your wealth of images, so that you walk away with not only a wonderful experience, but the images to prove it.

Thursday, April 28
Arrive at our French Quarter hotel to check into your room. We will meet in the lobby at 5:00pm, and proceed to a local restaurant where we’ll have a meet & greet and discuss the upcoming days, go over gear, talk about our strategy to photographing the festival and the city, and have dinner. Then, we’ll head out from 7:00-9:00pm and do some night photography to get warmed up.
Friday, April 29
We’ll start the day early and head over to the Jazz Festival. We’ll spend the entire day at the festival, grabbing as many photos as possible while enjoying the wonderful music and food that the festival has to offer. There is a parade at 12:00pm that should be tons of fun, both to attend and to photograph!
Saturday, April 30
Today we’ll start the day at Mother’s enjoying an authentic New Orleans breakfast, a very special experience. From there we’ll head out around the city and the markets to enjoy the unique French Quarter architecture and flavor that only New Orleans has to offer. We will get to the famous St. Louis Cemetery #1, head to the French Market, and put in a few miles making sure we get to all the best sites and grabbing all the street photography we can. We have lunch together at another local restaurant to take a quick break. Finally, we’ll take a break for dinner on your own, as there are so many wonderful restaurants to choose from, and then hook back up in the evening for some more New Orleans night photography and have beignets at the famous Cafe DuMonde.
Sunday, May 1
We’ll meet again in the conference room for a continental breakfast and to upload and process some of our images. We’ll discuss workflow, style, and more. Bring your laptop and card reader to get the most out of this session.
