This Yellowstone Photography Workshop is near and dear to our hearts so we are very pleased to offer it to you. Staci and I have traveled to this area for over 15 years, and we are so excited to share it with you. Most of all, the landscapes are like nowhere else in the world and the abundant wildlife are amazing. Yellowstone is not to be missed.
Your Yellowstone Photography workshop adventure includes a dedicated and experienced driver and a comfortable 15 passenger van. We share all we know on the unique historical, biological, and geological features of the park. Meanwhile, we get you to the best spots for photos while sharing our technical knowledge with you. Ultimately your vision comes to life.
Yellowstone Photography Workshop Itinerary
Day 1: First, our trip will start in West Yellowstone, Montana where you will check into your hotel. Then we meet at Wild West Pizzeria for dinner and a meet and greet. There we discuss goals, schedule, and equipment for the workshop. Finally we break for an early night to get ready to go out and photograph the park.
Day 2-4: Over the next 3 days we explore the geologic features, wildlife, and panoramic landscapes that only the first national park can provide. Our days begin and end in West Yellowstone. We will arrive back to town in time for dinner each night.
We go on to explore the Mammoth Hot Springs, Hayden Valley, Yellowstone Lake, Old Faithful, and more. While there is no guarantee of which wildlife we will see, hopefully we’ll get our lenses on bear, bison, elk, coyotes, eagles, and more.
Day 5: After several busy days exploring the park, we take some down time to process our bounty. We work with you in a classroom to help improve your workflow and give ideas on creative editing. You will leave this workshop with finished images that are ready to share. In addition we do an overview of adjustment tools, sharpening techniques, and value-added plugins such as Nik software’s Silver Efex Pro 2 and Color Efex 4. Bring a thumb drive with you so you can give me 5-10 of your images that we can work on together.
Optional One-Day Fly Fishing Excursion
I’ve been fishing the Madison River for nearly fifteen years and have met some of the best guides in the field. Join me for a wonderful day on the river catching trout in one of Montana’s very best Blue Ribbon trout streams. We handle all the details with a qualified Montana guide to ensure a great day on the stream. The best part about fishing the Madison is that it doesn’t matter what your experience is because it’s an amazing time for novices and experienced fly-fisherman alike. I got my start fishing the Madison and never looked back. It’s an experience you’ll never forget!
